KANGAROO ISLAND WILDERNESS TOURS - TESTIMONIALS

"We had a wonderful visit and would certainly come again should the opportunity arise. The principle of a personal driver/guide was perfect for our style. Bill soon got on to what we wanted to see and was able to cram 110% into the time available. Mandy, at Seascape Lodge, provided the ultimate hospitality and cuisine each evening and the lunches were superb. Our fellow guests were interesting and fraternal. It all came together as promoted." Kind Regards Joal & Robert Gardner

Those 2 days with Chris were 2 of the best we've ever had!! His knowledge, breadth of experience and sense of humour made those days a real stand-out in our 4 fabulous weeks in Australia!  Thanks to Chris and K.I. Wilderness Tours from the Techentins!

Your tours continue to get rave reviews. I just spoke with the Shaws, who said that every step of their trip they kept thinking "wow, this is even better than what we have done so far!" and then, as he said "and then, came Kangaroo Island. What can I say? It was beyond our wildest expectations!!!" And it is interesting that every client says "my guide was THE best, you must use him/her for all your clients" -- no matter which guide you assign. That says heaps, to me. I have a small handful of tour companies that are good only if certain people are doing the guiding. That has never happened with KI Wilderness.

Hello Paul!  Just receiving your email makes me smile, and think how much I really loved my too-short visit to Kangaroo Island last month. It was by far my favorite part of my Australia trip...so full of raw, simple, natural pleasures. The first moment on that first evening when our guide stopped at dusk to see the hundreds of kangaroos in the open meadow, well, that moment was surreal for me...and I don't say that too often. My particular guide was exceptional in his thoughtful action and commentary, and his love for the island subtly made his way deep into our heart, sign of a truly good guide! I have been telling all my AMEX clients since I have come back that Australia, and Kangaroo Island in particular, is a must-do, and I have the ultimate in confidence in your company and your guides to make their experience as good as could possibly be on your jewel of an island.  Thank you for all your very kind hospitality throughout the trip and especially at Seascape, and I hope to do business and see you again in the future.

I want to thank you for organizing my tour of KI. It was exactly what I wanted and KI surpassed by expectations. Hold on to what you have. It is an exceptional jewel! Bill was a terrific guide, full of island knowledge and was very enjoyable. Everything went well, I rate the experience an 11 out of 10! Best regards, Jon

We are back from Oz and now believe that it really is aptly named! Our trip was fabulous and we loved all your suggestions! Kangaroo Island was amazing... the guide was excellent, both knowledgeable and personable, and the B&B was perfect...cozy and welcoming.

John and I have been back in the States for almost two weeks now, and we keep getting asked what the highlight of the trip was. Our answer remains the same…you. What a fabulous, educational, and warm time we had with you.  You are truly a treasure.  Thanks so much for sharing yourself and your knowledge with us.  We went to Kangaroo Island…how about you come to Vail some time

I just talked with my "boys" and they are raving about what a wonderful wonderful time they had on their tour - from the scenery, to the gorgeous water colors, to the wildlife, meals and hotel...but most especially they were impressed with the sky - they saw stars and galaxies they didn't even know existed - it opened up a complete new world to them. So if you ever need any sort of rave reviews to print on your website - let us know - the "boys" were enchanted. Thanks again so much for everything!  Lois Morgan

I have to tell you that our trip to Kangaroo Island turned out to be one of the highlights of our 5 week trip to Australia! My husband and I are pretty seasoned travelers and enjoy exploring new places on our own, but Kangaroo Island has so much to see that I thought we would get more out of our time there by going with a tour group. I did lots of research on various companies and was more impressed with Wilderness Tours than the others.

1. Your website is very well done and informative.
2. The vehicles looked new (and they were--just a week or two old)
3. Your response time from my initial inquiry was faster and very detailed.

I felt very confident making my reservation with your tour company. Best of all, our trip exceeded expectations. Greg was there to meet us at the airport (our flight was delayed from Adelaide for about 2 hours) and he was delightful. It was so refreshing to be on a tour with someone who obviously loves what he does and has a great love and appreciation for the wildlife, the history of the island, the agriculture and a great sense of humor. We were travelling with our kids who were 11 & 15 and he kept all of us very much engaged in the wonders of KI.

FOOD was GREAT! Not just good, GREAT! Something for everyone, fresh produce, wonderful main courses, and deserts!

Our stay at Stranraer Homestead was wonderful as well. The kids had never stayed at a B&B before and it was such a wonderful change from the hotels that we had been at for the two weeks prior. Our hosts were lovely people, rooms were warm and welcoming and again the meals were wonderful. Thank you for making our visit to KI so memorable--when asked, my daughter says it was her favorite part of the entire trip. I will recommend your tour company to everyone I know who is even thinking about a trip to Australia. To my mind, KI and Wilderness Tours is a MUST DO for anyone travelling to Australia.  The Sheedys.

We had a fabulous time (in spite of the weather!) and enjoyed everything about the tour. Peter was so knowledgeable about the island and its animal inhabitants and it was amazing to be able to get so close to the koalas, fur seals, and kangaroos. We especially liked the intimacy of the tour -- four people and Peter. It made the experience much more personal and we could change plans easily if necessary. The accommodations were excellent and relaxing. When we were making our plans we contacted several tour companies on Kangaroo Island. What drew us to you was your website and your thorough, personal responses to my questions. Your website is easy to navigate and pleasing to look at - it has all the information I needed to decide to make the initial contact. Throughout the reservation process, you answered all of our questions quickly and with great detail. You made it very easy for us to feel good about choosing your company and we were just as impressed upon arrival. Everything, from our initial contact to saying goodbye, was top notch.

Here are a couple of pictures from the trip. We've kept in touch with Susan and Anthony via email. Thanks again for giving us an amazing experience with nature on Kangaroo Island!   Karen

Just spoke to Susan on arrival at KI Lodge - she could not stop raving about Peter their guide today, he was informative without talking off their ears, he was caring and has a wonderful nature, Susan felt so safe and well looked after. Had sparklers to help celebrate 4th July - impressed Susan no end. Susan also very very impressed with the food today. Please pass on our special thanks to Peter and all in help making our clients feel so very special and making touring the very best.

We greatly enjoyed our day of touring with Chris. He was an attentive, knowledgeable, and informative guide. We saw our fill of seals, koalas and wallabies and learnt a great deal about their habits – and we even sighted the odd bird or two!!! The mid-afternoon showers did not affect things much because Chris’s plans were always adaptable. The vehicle was comfortable and clean, and Chris was a wonderful companion and an excellent and careful driver. We would certainly recommend this tour to others.

Our whole KI experience was a most enjoyable one. The package deal worked well for us – after the initial arrangements were finalised before we set out, we didn’t have to organise anything. Of course, the choice of Seascape as our ‘home’ for 3 days was an inspired one – the accommodation was elegant and oh so comfortable, and we felt like we were part of the family. As an additional bonus, we had Mandy’s cooking to look forward to after we returned from a day’s outing.

I have only just finished editing my pics. How did I manage to take so many snaps of seals, koalas and wallabies? The pictures are a great reminder of a most enjoyable holiday made even more special by the ‘locals’ who looked after us so well.   Thanks, Ron and June

Thank you so much for the recipes. My cookies tasted fine but they were flat instead of mounded like yours, but I'll try again. The meals you provided for us while touring and those at the B&B were the best we had in our 2 weeks in Australia. Ron told Jim the reason we chose your company was because you were so prompt and organized in answering his email. You were very clear about exactly what would happen and when. Other companies he contacted were slow in answering, not clear about their tour, or offered large group tours which we weren't interested in. We enjoyed our touring with Jim very much, appreciating his knowledge and willingness to search for whatever it was we wanted to see, and working hard to make it the best experience possible. The vehicle was clean and comfortable and the flight arrangements were great. Thanks very much for a great tour. We are still playing catch up after being gone, but if we find we have pictures that you might like we will send them. Sincerely, Bonnie Dozeman

Hi Mandy and Paul, Phyllis and I are now enjoying a very different Australia, the luxury of Sydney, but we want to know that the highlight of our entire trip has been our stay at the Lodge with you. We were thrilled with the tour part of our visit to Kangaroo. Even more wonderful was the experience at the Lodge. You made us feel as part of your family. I know that welcoming strangers into your home and putting them at ease is both a skill and an essential part of running a B and B. In the least you did a fantastic job. But we both feel a deeper attachment, one we will never forget. Perhaps you will stop in Nashville during any of your marketing trips to the USA. You are welcome at our home as our guests. Thank you again for making our trip to Australia so memorable.  Hal Helderman

All aspects of our KI Wildnersess Tours were excellent. Two items which clearly stand out include: 1) the wonderful stories and commentary by Wilderness guides and
2) the fantastic lunches will be remembered for a long time!
But the entire experience with Wilderness tours was excellent - email exchanges with you in planning our trip, the vehicles in which we toured, etc….
Recommending our tours with Wilderness Tours will be a pleasure.

'If you go to Kangaroo Island get Peter of Wilderness Tours to show you the place. You will come away with a lot more than Seal, Kangaroo, and Koala pictures. You will come away with a feeling that you fit in, that you were not really a tourist only there for a few days. You will remember Kangaroo Island but more you will remember the trip itself long after the Kangaroos have faded, save for the pictures. If you go to Kangaroo Island (which you certainly should do) go with these guys. You won't regret it'.
Bill.

Hello Sue,  Back in Perth we want to thank you for all the organizing that you did to make our visit to KI one full of happy memories. Our transfer from KI to Adelaide last Sunday went like a well oiled Swiss clock. The bus driver made sure our luggage went on the van for the ferry. The lass in the ferry office made sure we knew what to do on arriving on the mainland. The coach driver was helpful. Everyone was cheerful and in a happy mood. As we have only seen rain once since last November, the light rain was wonderful to see.

Seascape is an ideal place to spend the evenings. Mandy and Paul are warm and wonderful hosts. Shadow made sure that dog lovers, especially our wives, had the benefit of a warm welcome at all times.

Graham, despite having four ancients plus and the old range rover, (he missed out on the two young chicks and the new range rover), was an outstanding tour guide and cook. We not only saw the tourist side of KI, but gained an insight into normal life and culture on KI.

We found KIWT to be equal to and in most cases far better than other tours that we have made in Australia and Overseas. It will be a pleasure to talk about KI and recommend with confidence KIWT to our local and overseas friends.

I am going to enjoy showing our photos and boring everyone talking about our happy visit to KI.
Thank you Sue for making our visit so enjoyable.
Best Regards, Andrew Powell

We are still raving on about our time on KI. We have both discovered KI sheep yoghurt in our local shops. A great reminder of our KI visit. As a travel cynic long on cruises, churches, museums, town squares, national dress, etc, I found KIWT to be equal to and in most cases better than many off shore tourist operations. You are miles better than other tours that we have been on in Australia. Speedy, along with all the others in the back office, did you proud. Many thanks to all at KIWT

Thanks again for literally Making our day! Hi Peter and Sue, It was so great travelling with you across Kangaroo Island. We have sent "excellent" reviews of our time with you to Trip Advisor. We thought you might enjoy some of the pictures from our time with you, especially those where you are in the picture.  Hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed our time with you. It was our single most favourite day of our whole trip because of all the animals we saw and the rocks as well, but mostly because of our great guide, Peter and Lidia and the others were fun too!
Thanks again for literally "Making our day!"

Before I set off on the next stage of my travels tomorrow, I wanted to tell you what a fantastic time I had Thursday and Friday on Kangaroo Island. The trip far exceeded my expectations and was everything I could have wished for. My aunt was absolutely right when she told me Kangaroo Island was my sort of place. Thank you so much for your help in the planning stages. Please would you pass on my thanks to Greg, Steve and Roanna for their considerable contributions to such an enjoyable and memorable two days.
With my best wishes, Nicola

Our three days with KIWT were the best three days we have ever spent anywhere. This is truly the hidden gem of Australia, and KIWT helps you experience it in the best way possible. Chris picked us up at the KI airport at 7:30 (the early flight) in the Land Rover. There was myself, interested in all aspects of science and nature, and my two twenty-something daughters, who wanted to have fun. For two days, Chris, and on the third day, Bill, exceeded all our expectations. They both bonded with the girls and fostered a curiosity and excitement about everything we saw and what we might see next. August is cool and sometimes showery, but they have fantastic, warm, hooded raincoats, so no need to miss anything. Even the daughters enjoyed the raincoats on the one showery day. And on two of the three days, it was just us. But what made this so special was Chris and Bill. Chris, with an encyclopedic knowledge of all things in Australian nature, patiently answered my million questions. He picked up on our personalities so well, and the girls were more interested and animated than ever. He could spot anything, perhaps just a bird in a tree, and make it fascinating. If one of us saw something, the brakes went on, we turned around, and went to take a look. We were never rushed in any way, were able to stop and see things not on the itinerary. Bill, our guide on the third day, was different but just as engaging. He and Chris had talked the evening before (thank you both!) so that he would know what we liked to do. It was on Bill's watch that we had the most special experience of our lives - interacting with a joey. The third day is always a private tour, so we were able to see new places and to return to the special one we had to see again. Also, kudos to Pam, who provides all the elaborate picnic lunches and snacks. She is amazing. So, I have let the secret out, but I have already been there. If I return to Australia, I may just spend the whole time with KIWT. USA

It is my great pleasure, after coming home from our trip to Australia on Sunday, to say you once again many thanks for everything you have done for us. Your hospatility was really great and your meals were excellent, cooked by and your husband Paul. We also appreciated the discussions with the other two couple, from England (sorry, from Scotland) and from Australia. Your Seascape Lodge on Emu Bay is really a Paradise. We enjoyed the stay in your house very much. Wonderful was also the adventure with Jim in our trip through Kanguroo Island. He knew all the places where we usually could find Koalas and other seldom animals. I am sure, I will come soon once again to Emu Bay, I hope, next time with my wife. I hope, to convince her, that the flight from Switzerland to Australia ist not so long, as everybode thinks.. I wish you and your lovely husband furtheron much pleasure with your "paradise" on Kanguroo Island
Many thanks and greetings from Switzerland
