Our tours depart daily except for Christmas Day, so we often carry people who've come in a day before you. This means that Day 1 as scheduled on your itinerary may actually be Day 2. Nothing to be alarmed about - you will certainly see all we've brochured for your tour.
Sometimes, we have to change the destinations but all will be visited over the tour's duration, as long as nothing jeopardises your safety and comfort.
Distances in Vehicle: It is quite usual for us to travel some distances before seeing any wildlife. This is a big Island - 155 kms or 100 miles long and 55 kms or 30 miles wide - and we can be driving for up to a maximum of one hour on any one day to get to the destinations.
Seats in Vehicles: We carry 6 maximum plus our driver/guide in our latest model Nissan Patrols. When we carry a full load, we seat one passenger next to the driver, three across the middle seat and two in the back seat. We then rotate through the day and your full co-operation is appreciated.
Guides: Our guides are all local and have a vast knowledge of their Island, its flora, fauna, social, historic and economic structures. They are not botanists, zoologists nor ornithologists, but genuinely knowledgable people happy to share their Island with you with warmth and hospitality.
Meals on Tour: Fresh, wholesome, filling. Please let us know if you have special dietary requirements - and please be specific! In Australia, 'salad' means dishes of fresh vegetables, fruit n nuts and lots of different combinations some with rice or pasta, and meatless. Wherever we can, we try to accommodate your requests.
Luggage: Please restrict luggage to 10 kilos (or 20lbs) each to comply with air, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Weather: It's changeable on KI, so come prepared with a weatherproof jacket, a hat & sunscreen, and good non-slip walking shoes.
We provide a great range of wonderful homes as B&B's and farmstays (non-interactive) and there are hotels to choose from if you wish. However, KI is renowned for it's B&B's so why not experience the best?
